Our Educational Programs
Our educational programs offer a wide range of class structures, cover an assortment of topics, and are tailored for a broad spectrum of skill levels. Come learn with us!
Education is the heartbeat of our mission
Our extensive Educational Programs offer weekly in-person classes, live and recorded online classes, intensive hands on workshops, one-time demonstrations and lectures, and an Advanced Studies Program centered around Independent Study and Mentoring (ISM).
Through our Advanced Studies Program, we strive to raise up the next generation of ceramic artists. Beyond our advanced program, we invite the broader community to discover the joy of working with clay by taking a class or workshop with us. All of our educational programs are intended for adults and designed to unlock creativity, reduce isolation, and offer hands-on access to the transformative experience of the ceramic arts.
Our classes and workshops cater to a spectrum of skill sets from beginner to advanced and cover topics from wheel, hand building, sculpture, and surface design, as well as the occasional special subjects. We utilize a variety of different firing methods such as cone 6 oxidation, cone 10 reduction, wood and soda, raku, saggar, and other alternative firing techniques.
All of our instructors and mentors are united in their candid willingness to share their passion for clay and years of expertise with every student that comes through our studio. Whether someone is throwing their first pot or refining a body of work and building a career, we are here to guide, teach, and inspire.

Teaching Center (TC)
Our TC classroom has multi-week classes for the local community. We have classes that are perfect for all skill levels, from beginners and pottery veterans alike. The Teaching Center consistently has classes focused on wheel throwing and hand building, while occasionally having specialty classes on topics like alternative firings and surface design.
Each TC class meets once a week for around two and a half hours. During class time, students first watch a demonstration by one of our skilled instructors and then have time to work on their own while receiving individualized guidance from their teacher.
Throughout the week, our studio offers open studio opportunities, outside of class time, for students to work on their projects independently.

Our HOW classroom is dedicated to multi-day (typically weekend or week-long) intensive workshops for an immersive, hands-on learning experience.
Because every workshop is focused around that specific instructor’s body of work, speciality, and skill set, each workshop is uniquely structured. That being said, during these concentrated workshops students typically meet from 9am-4pm, with a communal lunch break midday and open studio opportunity in the evening. During workshop time, instructors give in-depth demonstrations followed by one-on-one help for students as they work on the projects and techniques demonstrated.
Our workshops that are open to all potters, whether local or a visiting to our beautiful area, who are looking to dive deeper and get inspired.
Occassionally, our HOW classroom hosts one-time demonstration, lectures, and presentations by specific artists or on particular topics like business in the arts.
